Metamask is the most famous browser crypto wallet enabling users to save their crypto and interact with Dapps on different chains.
If you have already downloaded the wallet extension, you may have noticed that the Avalanche Network is not included by default.
Don’t worry. Adding Avalanche to Metamask or any other network is super easy and can be done in 2 easy steps. Just keep scrolling to find out how.
Open your Metamask Browser extension and click on the selected network.
On the drop-down, click on the “Add Network” button
On the next screen, you’ll just have to paste the following details just like the screenshot below:
- Network Name: Avalanche Mainnet
- New RPC URL: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
- Chain ID: 0xa86a
- Symbol: AVAX
- Explorer: https://cchain.explorer.avax.network/
Click “Save,” and you are done. You now have Avalanche Network added to your Metamask.
Note that you’ll need AVAX in your wallet to pay for the gas fees when interacting with a protocol.
This means that if you fund your C-Chain address with an Avalanche token other than AVAX you won’t be able to trade it or send it to another address if your AVAX balance is insufficient.
Funding your wallet with AVAX is quite a simple process.
You just have to purchase AVAX in a Centralized Exchange (CEX) like Binance and send it to your C-Chain address.
Add Avalanche FUJI Network to Metamask
Fuji is Avalanche’s test network. FUJI is where Dapp testing happens, and you can use it to test protocols that launch their Beta there.
The process is the same as before. You’ll just have to paste different details when setting up Fuji on Metamask.
Just copy and paste the following details, and you should be ready to go:
- Network Name: Avalanche FUJI C-Chain TESTNET
- New RPC URL: https://api.avax-test.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
- ChainID: 43113
- Symbol: AVAX
- Explorer: https://testnet.snowtrace.io/
Funding your C-Chain Address on FUJI
You’ll have to use a faucet to get AVAX in the FUJI testnet network.
To do that, you just have to head to https://faucet.avax-test.network/
Paste your C-Chain Address, and the faucet will send the testnet AVAX to your address.
You can request as much as 10 AVAX per hour so use it wisely.
Note that these are test AVAX and can’t be used in the Main network so don’t get too excited as these are not real money!
